Thanks for your advice.
I am exploring immediately expiring the page.  I may go with Jeff's
final suggestion: "don't sweat it."

P.S.  As I write and revise ColdFusion pages, I keep agreeing with
Jeff's dictum that IsDefined is evil.  It seems to naturally fall out
from good design that CFPARAM and Length checks make more sense.
