[thelist] How to Fade the Edges of an Image

I need you help please...How does one take an image and fade out the edges?  If
you could take a look at http://www.ams.com.  Notice how the edges of the world
map are faded out.  Is there a tool that does this?  I have tried everything in
Microsoft Image Composer, but to no avail.  Any help would be great!
