I come across a problem like this occasionally, where gifs are displayed 
incorrectly in IE. They can usually be corrected by either refreshing the 
page or scrolling the image off screen and then bringing it back.

I don't think it's a problem with the images, more connected with IE and 
particular display adapters. Have a look at the MS Knowledge Base, in
