[thelist] Generating a high ranking on search engines

Anyone have any tips or ideas to increase my websites rankings within search 
engines?  Please keep in mind I have been in the Web business under 3 months 
now. Anyways,  I have a Texas Golf Resort website.  If I search on excite or 
Yahoo for Texas Resorts, we are ranked in the high 60's to 90's.  I 
understand that search engines rank websites by their traffic generation, 
but besides your meta tags to attract search engines, anyone have any good 
ideas on which sites or portals we should buy space on for some recognition?
