Apache was originally developed for the Unix platform, and to make it
work on win32, there were a lot of 'hacks' that had to be made.. this is
why you always hear the "Apache on Windows isn't stable" line.. 

As for your situation, IBM has a number of people that work on the
Apache project, and so they have a great deal of expertise with it.. The
IBM version of Apache has some minor modifications to improve stablitiy
and useablity on win32, so you shouldn't have any major concerns about
using it on the win32 platform..
