[thelist] Gaming vs Pornography

I actually agree with you on that one. I should have been more clear I
guess. The web may continue to be a source of profit for innovators, with
innovation being key. It's interesting to me that generally speaking,
pornography sites are the first to make use of new browser features, new
language extensions, new languages altogether, etc. Any "new" trend on the
web probably has traceable roots to some porn site somewhere. :p

No ones going to get rich with the same tired jpgs behind an Adult Check
login. Just like a site that takes your credit card number and lets you
play Blackjack probably wont' bring you the financial success you're looking
for.

My most recent lessons learned from the web development would have to be;
work with a contract, and receive payment in some tangible form, and above
all--do something new! :) I miss the good old days of web development
where I coded out of curiosity, and a desire to put something on the web
that wasn't there yet. eBay was a great idea, and it came along almost two
years after I'd developed something similar. My site was narrowly focused
on trading cards (in fact, only one type of trading cards), and it was a
free service. At the time, eBay's innovation was to charge for their
service! How clever. One half of me wishes I'd done the same, but my
better half is proud that I didn't. :)

I just wanted to create a new thread subject based on the below text..
Not meaning to slam Billy, but pornography on the web will ALWAYS be a
money-making profiteering system.
