Memo from Martin P Burns of PricewaterhouseCoopers

But you'd then have to detect the session variable on each page
when deciding whether to run the detection script. No benefit IMO.

Remember, users can come in on any page (or should be able to -
forcing people through your home page is not good usability).

Cheers
Martin

Hi Zoe,

If you run your detection script server side - then you can set a session
variable (ASP, CF) or a database entry containing the information you find.
That information can then be referenced throughout your site without running
the user through the detection script on each page. {.... unless that would
be faster of course.}

Is that the kind of 'other way' you were asking about?
