I had a lot of memory problems when I got a new system
(Pentium III 600 with 256 MB RAM) and installed Win98.
The problems discussed here seem slightly different - I
just couldn't use more than a few apps without it
whining about lack of memory - but I didn't have any
problems after I upgraded to Win2000.

I was advised that I might have bad RAM, and by all
means test the stuff you've got, but for what it's worth,
I thought I'd let you know that Win2000 solved my
memory problems =)
