Thanks for this, Jeff -

For future reference, can we, however, separate Mac OS 9.x and below into
Classic Mac OS and Mac OS X (http://www.apple.com/macosx/) and Mac OS X
Server (http://www.apple.com/macosx/server/) into Mac OS X?

My reasoning is that Mac OS X, especially server, will offer compelling
server power, being based on BSD and a lot of hard work by Apple engineers.
I don't believe Mac OS X Server will oust servers for those who think a gui
on a server is a waste of time, but I do think it will provide a robust
server platform. In that sense, CF might make sense for Mac OS X.

So there very well probably will be a time and a place/best tool for the job
reason to use Mac OS X Server as a server, but I totally agree with you that
the Classic Mac OS just doesn't cut it as a server (and never will...)

I think that will clarify issues, especially since there's a WORLD of
difference between the current Mac OS and Mac OS X.

I'm not trying to start an OS war either; trying to clarify issues :)

(desperately trying not start an os religious war here and hoping that the
mac evangelists on the list can see that i don't have issue with macs in a
workstation role, only in a server role. you know, the whole "time and a
place..." / "best tool for the job" sorta thing.)
