Memo from Martin P Burns of PricewaterhouseCoopers

-------------------- Start of message text --------------------

The minor problem with that one is that every line carrying
data acts like a big transmitter - "What is this 'security' thing
of which you speak?"

Nortel did extensive trials in the UK, and couldn't get round it -
streetlights had extensive problems.

I don't believe the "It's up and running in Europe" bit. Sounds
like a "Damn cunning foreigners" story.

Cheers
Martin

Subject: [thelist] High-Speed Internet Access via Power Lines?

Maybe this is common knowledge out there, but I hadn't heard of this
approach to high-speed Internet access before: using low- and medium-voltage
power lines.

According to the article, such service is already available in some
European countries. Do any of our European Evolters have any experience with
or knowledge of this approach? Any thoughts on how well it works?
