ie5 mac has a little glitch in its handling of a:hover; it seems to process
the hover before checking to see whether the links are centered or
right-aligned. therefore you can activate the hover by moving the mouse over
the area where the links would be if they were left-aligned (the default). i
don't think there's any way to fix it, except maybe by putting those links
inside a nested table and centering the table.
