It just sounds like you're trying to place the onus for this situation on
your client's lack of knowledge or information.  If that¹s the case then, as
I suggested, you might want to take sometime to educate them about he
realities of sending messages in HTML format.

Perhaps if they actually knew the realities they wouldn't want to do it?
