/----------------------------
  problems using the View Source command..
----------------------------/

there are a few ways to handle this one..

1) a. delete everything in your temporary internet files directory. (if
you're running nt4/win2k, you want the files in C:\Documents and
Settings\[userName]\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\).

   b. in particular, purge the index.dat file. (it may be easier to just
delete the sucker. if you delete it, close ie first. ie will recreate the
.dat file next time it opens).

2) do a repair on ie, using 'control panel > add/remove programs'. there's
an ms kb article on the process here:
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q194/1/77.asp

3) add an 'edit with' button on your toolbar (vew > toolbars > customize, I
think). one kewl thing is you can add homesite to that list, which is
handy.. check the allaire article at:
http://www.allaire.com/Handlers/index.cfm?ID=10425&Method=Full
the button isn't always enabled, however, and viewing source code of framed
pages is a hassle.

4) a. reinstall notepad. as an alternative, download and install one of the
other notepad-type apps out there. several of those 'notepad alternates' ask
if you'd like to replace notepad with the new app; sometimes that fixes the
prob.

   b. you may need to add a registry setting to your system, telling ie what
to use for the 'view > source' editor. microsoft's offical doc on this is
here:
<wrap>
http://msdn.microsoft.com/workshop/browser/configuration/ClientReg/ClientReg
istryLayout.asp
</wrap>
although there's a more human-friendly version posted here:
http://registry.winguides.com/display.php/774/

your mileage may vary..
