[thelist] <div> widths in netscape 4.76

hiya!

i've set a <div> to be 480 px wide. its left setting is 250 px. while IE and
netscape 6 display the <div> correctly, netscape 4.76 subtracts the two
figures, so that my text is only 230 px wide:

<div id="text" style="position:absolute; width:480px; height:700px;
z-index:2; left: 261px; top: 238px">

</div>

is there a workaround for this? i'm doing this so i can display a fixed
watermark -- i have the watermark image in another <div> at z-index 1.
