[thelist] Shared Borders

I'm reading about Shared Borders in FrontPage and I have a few questions:

1. Are they exclusive to frontpage? Do you have to have FP Ext. isntalled 
   for them to work?

2. Are they cross browser compatible?

3. Any  contraindications?

4. From my understanding they're much like a standard Include, any reason
   they'd be used in preference?
