Something that would work in some situations would be to keep the swf 
as it is and sandwich it between two other SWFS ... like embed a 
movie with these actions in the page:

loadMovieNum("swf_you_cant_edit.swf",1);
loadMovieNum("text_you_added.swf",2);

... putting solid blocks of color in text_you_added.swf to obscure 
anything that you want to "take out" of the old SWF.
