[thelist] Best Practice? (from DB --> Presentation)

Hi Bruce,

Thanks for the generator tip! I'll dig around and see what I can find out
about that ... (I'm not sure how well that would work for 'really big'
datasets ... but maybe ... if I can get some aggregate tables created and
work off those ... Hmmm!) I'll check into it!

Yeah - the flat Excel table things don't scare me - I'm pretty sure I can
automate those - and any 'data swizzling' done in the macros could certainly
be better done server-side anyway. [We have some "homegrown perhaps?" com
objects for Excel table output I can use from ASP and that Brio tool will
let me do this even easier.] I think it's more the charts that are getting
imported into Powerpoint that had me buffaloed. {But I did some Brio tests
that will let me spit those out as jpeg ... and I saw a reference I'll have
to track down about spitting those out as gif.}

Fun Stuff!

RonL.

I've used generator. It's an add-on to Flash to allow the movie to receive
query data and do different stuff with it. It can do
graphs and charts. It's functionality is rather limited though - needs more
development.
