I found this site last night and it's php-oriented, but I'm sure it can be 
adapted.

Click for a php script and then they offer choices Download | View | View 
in New Window

Of course, it's still not the perfect solution since I also know people who 
hit the browser print button and completely miss the link and printer icon 
for printer-friendly pages . . . .

But, if I had my way, I would use this -- come to think of it ....

Got some coding to do now!
