Quicktime Pro may be able to help you. I've never encountered a file with
that extension but, quicktime is pretty good about figuring that kind of
stuff out (especially if it is an mpeg as you think it might be). QT Pro is
only $29 and definitely worth it.

If not, you may have to spring for a more robust (and expensive) solution
such as Media Cleaner 5. though it is pricey, it's sure is nice to have
around for encoding all audio and video media types.
