[thelist] Table cell woes in NS

1. The page works fine in IE but in NS4.74 I get a repeating background as
the cell expands. I seem to have completely forgotten how to force NS to
limit the width of a cell, my brain has ceased working, apparently. Anyone
help?

2. Am I right in thinking that "hover" only works in IE 4+? Is there a way
to get the same effect still using CSS that works cross-browser?
