On second thought, 

since your Perl script is failing you can brobably get the cause 
without going to the server error logs by adding 

use CGI::Carp qw(fatalsToBrowser);

to the script that is failing. Add it on something like line 3 of the 
script. 

I still bet it's an empty variable or array....
