The other thing is, what happens when those 10,000 emails
hit 10,000 mailboxes and 10,000 users click on a link to your
site *at the same time*?
This applies to text emails too btw...
And yes, I've almost killed a server that way through
announcing a phone book launch on an intranet via a 20,000
user email. The email was sent out overnight with agreement
from the network guys, but we didn't think about the resulting
clickthrough.
If you're sending out emails with links to your site, for goodness'
sake *stagger* them over a few hours/days.
