[thelist] Image question

Thanks for that, never really thought about the downside of using imagemaps!

Plea for help.. I have been trying to use Photoshop 6 for doing some nav
menus, I cannot for the life of me get the text (Verdana and Arial, between
10 - 12 pt) to look any good. It comes out rather blury and not clean. Does
anybody have any suggestions on how to get text to look clear and crisp with
PS or Fireworks or something??

Cheers

Aaron

i didn't see a response to this yet...

the biggest reason with imagemaps is that they don't degrade
well... if i'm surfing on crappy connection and the image doesn't
download, i can't navigate... while i'm waiting for it to download, i
can't surf...

to alleviate this, often you'll see redundant text links... this does
address the problem, but rarely looks any good...

other reasons include:
- rollovers aren't exactly easy...
- a brand new download to show a highlighted section, instead of
one small image...
- hit states and the like can be bizarre, so you need to make sure
it's still usable...
- alt attribute is pretty useless if you want it to have navigational
value...
- etc...
 !
