[thelist] [OT] Anyone read Chinese? What was this search for?

Joe, Ray,

The person was looking for a rather vague term, unfortunately. She4ji4 (pr. shuh
jee) translates as something like "design" in the noun sense--aka a project or
scheme. It can also be used in the verb sense, much like in English. Gratz Joe,
artlung.com qualifies as good design, according to the Taiwanese.

In terms of translating Chinese, I have a theory. It's difficult because there
isn't a standard coding system yet, although the existing systems handle both
simplified and normal Chinese characters fairly well. In the end, special
software might always be required to write/translate Chinese.
