Memo from Martin P Burns of PricewaterhouseCoopers

-------------------- Start of message text --------------------

Like this one:
Hi, I'm a little virus from County Kerry.
As we don't have too much programming experience, this
virus works on the honour system.
Please forward this email to all the contacts in your personal address book.
Then delete all the files on your hard disk.
     That's grand, thanks very much.

And of course, many virus 'alerts' have many of the characteristics
of virii - the replicator being social engineering, rather than technology.

Cheers
Martin

<tip type='Project planning'>
Always ensure that - when you have mapped out the tasks in a project -
you have correctly identified the dependencies. And there are more to
dependencies to 'Task A must complete before Task B can start' (an
'End-to-Start' dependency).

Here's an example:
To produce visual templates for key pages, you decide you need page
wireframes of those pages, showing what needs to be on those pages.
Do you need to complete the wireframes before you complete the templates?
Yes. Do you need to complete the wireframes before you start on the
templates?
No, because you can pass the wireframes over as you complete each one,
rather waiting until you have all of them and throwing them over the wall.
This
is an 'End-to-End' dependency.

At least, not until they figure out how to transmit viruses in plain text .
