    According to the IE 4 Internet Client SDK, the Alpha filter applies to
the following elements:

body, button, div, img, input, marquee, span, table, td, textarea, tfoot,
th, thead, and tr.

    When applying the filter to either a div or a span, you must supply
either a height, width, or absolute position for the element.
