[thelist] Differences in capabilities of design

I have found that Dreamweaver, although a little trickier to learn at first,
compared with frontpage, is the better program. Frontpage is mainly a
template based program. You can chose your site design look based on a
number of predesigned templates. This is a nice feature for those who do
not have much design experience, but bothersome for those who like to design
it from the ground up, with the ability to add snazzy extras like flash,
customized rollovers, etc....Dreamweaver allows you to do this, and more.
Dreamweaver also gives you the option to view and/or edit the code as you
are designing on a Freehand like pasteboard. Dreamweaver ia amore
sophisticated program, with more options that Frontpage. You will need to
allow yourself a chunk of time to get to know the program......

Photoshop is the BEST imaging program out there that I have tried. Compared
with Fireworks, Photoshop's "save for web" imaging feature creates a better
compressed image, with instant viewing of your choice of gif, jpeg, etc,
while choosing your compression method....this is also a useful program for
creating animated gif's. Fireworks is a very different program than
Photoshop, I use both. Fireworks works quickly when wanting to edit images
while working in Dreamweaver, and also is an easy program to create buttons
and other graphics....I think both programs have a lot to offer. If I had
to pick only one program with which to edit images, I would pick Photoshop.
