[thelist] Active X and ASP

I'm bidding on a project which will involve a number of Web-based
calculators (people put in numbers, push a button, get a result). We don't
know what kind of system our client will want the pages to be served from,
and because of the nature of the project the pages have to be usable by as
many different types of browser as possible (including Web TV).

One of the people in our company says he can write the code for the
calculator. He says the best way to handle this type of form is with ASP and
Active X components, and that these will work on any system. Is he right
about this? My initial reaction is that I should bid the project to be done
in Perl, since I am confident that it can be adapted to whatever system the
client ends up having.

Comments?

Thanks!
