Because it's good to be able to ask a tech support
question before 3 in the afternoon.  Europeans on
this list will tend to ask for local hosts because
otherwise the simplest problem will take 2 working
days to fix.

Similarly, hosting in the US can add up to 500ms
to the ping times, which makes a UK site (for example)
appear sluggish to its UK clients.
