pixels.
if you specify a font say, 12 px high, both windows and mac (and i'm
assuming unix) will display the font the same size in each browser. using 12
pt, on a windows this will look normal, but on a mac, this will look really
small, causing problems for your mac users.
now if all browsers support px, i do not know. but it does seem to work the
best with the fewest problems being more compatible cross-platform.
