that's just how it is...

first, i define the size so that it looks good in browsers that don't 
support the CSS properties... this generally means NN4.x (and 
lower, alternative, etc., but i generally target NN4.x)...

then i apply the CSS width property that will make it all purdy in 
IE4+, N6+, and all other CSS-friendly browsers...
