without seeing some code, i can't tell you what could possibly be wrong.
however, i have a couple of questions for you about the technique you're
using.

1)  what are you doing to account for non-js users?

2)  if you're telling non-js users to fsck off,
    do you have good reason to?

3)  why not just use a regular image submit button?
    <input type="image" src="..." height="..." width="...">
