I keep hearing people say that MS has a vested interest Apple and making it
sound like they would want Apple to survive because of that fact.  Yes MS
has invested in Apple.  That doesn't mean that they want them to survive.
Another tactic in investing is, invest and lean against the assets of that
company.  When that company goes under, the investor has access and/or
rights to the assets of that company.  MS just did that to a company in
Rochester, NY and gained all of the patents that that company held, (was in
the music copyright arena and turned out to be a coup for MS), when the
company couldn't pay back the loan.  In short, sometimes it is smart to
invest in a company that you hope goes under.
