>From Microsoft Support Article Q293485:

"When you use the Web Server Certificate Wizard to create a Certificate
Request, the following error message may occur:
'Failed to Generate the Certificate Request
The string contains an invalid X500 name attribute key, oid, value or
delimiter'

CAUSE
This error occurs when you add invalid characters (such as a comma, hyphen,
and so on) to the Certificate Request in the Organization or Organizational
Unit fields. The most common cause of this problem is the use of a comma
(,). "

What they're saying is, don't put punctuation in your company name, even if
it belongs there. This, after Verisign is very specific about using the
exact legal name.
