[thelist] JS typeof operator limitations

Hi all,

Is there anyway to get more detailed information about the type of object
one is dealing with? For instance, for the Array object, a typeof() will
return only "object".

Some objects support the type property and others don't, so this seems to be
to be really an inadequate solution...

Insights?
