[thelist] Job Opps in the US? An informal survey.

I know how that one goes. I was in the same position for a while.

Has your tech background on your resume been a liability to you?

When I got desperate, I started looking for secretarial stuff, and kept
getting turned down because they didn't think I'd "fit in" or I would "get
bored". And this before an interview-- sheerly based on the fact that my
last job had been as a web designer. I ended up rewriting my work history
from Associate Web Designer, to Assistant Content Editor, and playing my
design and project management experience off as adding commas to webpage
text. Then I got a few leads.

Anyway, just wondering if it's like that elsewhere, or if it's just an
Austin thing.
