hiya d!

>Even when the rest of the country is booming, NYC only does so-so.

with all due respect, i'm falling out of my manolos laughing. no, wait --
i'm actually wearing choos today. . .<Grin>

even with the recent tragic events and the recession, i'm still seeing the
li'l yorkies in their mink coats smiling out from louis vuitton bucket bags
everytime i go uptown. you really can't believe how much money is still here
until you go look at it.

here in new york, we have a different status culture than elsewhere. due to
lack of parking and space, we don't always have huge houses and cars. so the
money is shown in couture, hired cars with drivers, chartered jets, two
weeks in st. barth's, a house in the hamptons or a big farm upstate, private
high schools that cost as much as harvard, eating out two meals a day every
single day in white-linen restaurants, and a private yoga teacher at home
for two hours six days a week. also those pollacks and stellas can be
pricey!

so if you see a slender woman with slightly disheveled blond hair, carrying
a tiny dog in a backpack, wearing pale shell pink lipstick that's just
slightly glossy, mules, and a light non-descript shearling coat, you know
you're looking at a multi-millionaire. and they are running in hordes on
madison avenue, as of last saturday.

finally, you haven't made it in new york until you can give away $5 million
or so a year. as we say here, it takes money to give away money!

have fun,

f
