I have to agree with Dave - the straight-binary Win32 install is a breeze,
and in fact I use it myself from time to time.

Unfortunately I'm on the same setup you are, so I have little to say about
newer OSes...

The PITA with Apache/Win is getting the modules to work as desired; is it
possible that you can write a custom conf/cfg for these users?
