Memo from Martin P Burns of PricewaterhouseCoopers

-------------------- Start of message text --------------------

Unlikely, as (tm)ing A Bad|Good Thing is near canonical. I'm *way*
down the queue.

I'm mildly surprised that this usage isn't noted in:
http://www.tuxedo.org/~esr/jargon/html/entry/Bad-Thing.html
http://www.tuxedo.org/~esr/jargon/html/entry/Good-Thing.html

<tip type="testing documentation with MS tools">
When you're performing testing, it's a grand idea to maintain an
issues register, listing:
* Issue ID
* Who raised it
* When they raised it
* Where they raised it (eg "Test server")
* What test procedure they were carrying out
* Description
* Page ID or reference
* Status (Open, Closed, Retest, Duplicate)
* Priority
* Change Request (Y/N)
* Responsibility for fix (person or agency)
* Fix date
* Resolution description
* Successful retest date

Now you *can* do this in Excel (and at least most people involved
will have the app), but beware that if your client starts asking for
breakdown
totals (eg "How many open high priority content issues?" and you put in
a pivot table, you suddenly find your file size is in the order of 10MB.

A db is probably a better bet for this, although it'll take longer to set
up,
probably.

You'll also want to keep the file in version control - if you're running in
an MS environment, SourceSafe is as good as any.

</tip>

Cheers
Martin

I think Martha Stewart might have something to say about your TM'ing "A
Good
Thing" and "A Bad Thing" ;)
