Memo from Martin P Burns of PricewaterhouseCoopers

-------------------- Start of message text --------------------

Hi Olly

Check that they've both got the same workgroup, and that you've got
shared resources on each.

2 other (probably sensible) things to try at some point:
1) Move off P2P - get a Linux or MacOSX box running as a Samba server
2) Upgrade the 98 machine to an NT OS - NT, 2k or XP. I just upgraded my
    98 box to XP at home, and it picks everything up beautifully.

Cheers
Martin

Subject:  [thelist] [OT] Win98 <-> Win2K Networking

Does anybody know of a resource that lists all the things you should do
when
getting Win2k and Win98 talking over Ethernet?

They'll communicate fine for a game of Unreal Tournament (woohoo! thats the
important bit) but cant see each other in Windows Explorer (DOH! DOH! DOH!)
