that's a very good question

we don't have a really good answer at the moment

the status of evolt.org as an official entity has yet to be determined

we are hoping to be an official not-for-profit entity (not sure exactly
where we are in this process) so that we can accept financial contributions
to pay for, among other things, our servers

in the nfp context, a member is one who can elect, or be elected to, the
board of directors that governs the organization (this is a fairly official
definition, as the board oversees the financial affairs of the nfp)

it's not really clear yet what the requirements for being a "member" will
be in that context

we should really move this discussion to theforum
