speaking as a very old folk, i find sans-serif easier to read
i don't think what one is "used to" has much bearing -- older folks are
also more used to radio than television, but i find i can get a sense of
the news a whole lot better when the newscaster looks like debra norville
one font style may very well be easier to read than the other for technical
reasons ( i wouldn't know), but serif fonts are at a disadvantage (the
technical term is "they look crappier") on computer monitors because of the
inability of the pixels to render the serifs properly and without
distortion
<tip type="better surfing through google">
get the google toolbar for two very handy features -- "search within this
site" and "up a level"
there's an option which reports where you went back to google, you can turn
that off if you want
i expect the "up a level" thingie can be turned into a bookmarklet, but i
rather like the google toolbar and will leave it there
the search box saves me a trip back to the google home page for new
searches, too
