[thelist] SELECT * FROM... (was laying out in PHP)

I've overcome the problems I was having - I've spent too long gazing at it,
missing obvious things. All sorted now, thanks to those of you who helped me
along.

Anyway, I was just wondering why those 'in the know' dislike the use of
SELECT * FROM... I often see its use discouraged, and I was wondering why it
is bad to use it.
