I didn't. I've taken to ignoring most of the traffic on this list lately,
because it's been getting ill-mannered and bad-tempered, and frankly, I get
enough of that in the meetings around here, I just don't have the extra
time to waste on an outside source.

The flamefest over flash was a good case in point (I went back and reviewed
some of the thread before posting this, just to check my impression). Lots
and lots of heat, blessed little light. My office is sufficiently heated,
thank you, but I'm *always* in the market for some enlightenment. Show me a
new trick with CSS, a cute PHP twiddle, and you have my attention. Start
whining and calling names and, well, does the word "killfile" ring a bell?

Maybe it's just the fact that I'm an old curmudgeon, but the man who owns
the hardware and pays the fees has the right to tell *anyone* off (myself
included). That's not sucking up, that's just a recognition of reality, in
case anyone has trouble telling the difference. The one ironclad rule for
lists is "What list-mom says, goes." If I can't accept it, I don't whine or
get indignant. I just leave. Pariticpating on a list is a voluntary
activity, nobody forces you to. You know what the rules are before you come
in. You don't like it, you don't come in. You certainly don't walk in the
building and spray paint the walls ("Flash Rulz!" "Flash sukz!") and then
get offended when the host takes your spray can away.

And, since I know from experience that some folks will misinterpret what I
just said, let me make try to make it clearer. I don't say "Love it or
leave it." I say "Tolerate it or leave it." There's a difference. Of all
the things that have passed from the planet, I miss civility the most.

Now can we get back to work?

Have fun,
