Try setting each one up as a separate location (top drop-down):

Create a location for work which only has the built-in.
Create a location for home which only has the modem.

I think then if you set the top drop-down to "automoatic, it'll look for
the enet, and switch to the modem if it doesn't. (Not sure, as I haven't
tried this..)

In any case, all you'll have to do is tell the system where you are
(location: top drop-down) and it'll switch.

That works, I know, because that's how I do it.
