Take a look at Apache James (Java Mail Enterprise Server), it is free open
source, and allows you to hook into databases for storing mail, and for
usernames and passwords.

Hello all,

I have been approached by a few of our users asking if we have considered
giving away free email addresses.  We are half entertaining this idea.  Can
anyone offer any advice pro or against this?  Also, any recommendations for
some affordable (free) software would be appreciated also.
