Yeah. Without the = sign, you're basically saying:
<%
"string"
%>
which doesn't do anything.
in my article, i used the full <%Response.Write request.form("foo")%>
notation. The <%= notation is simply shorthand.

hmmm... was there a place in my article where i didn't do this? if so,
i'll fix it. i can't find where i omitted them, if i did.
