[thelist] perl scripts causing server error

Thanks for the advice, Eric. I tried perl -c hi.pl and it compiled ok on the
first one. On the advice of Meredith, I downloaded notetab, exported the
text to UNIX, and it worked fine.

I exported all the scripts for the search function that I am trying to
transfer, and did the same. The scripts ran ok. Now all I have to do is
configure them.
