parsing xml files shouldn't be too big of a deal.  you just have to make
sure you have the necessary components installed on the server.  there are
alot more questions out there that'd need answering before i could give you
more direction though.

 - what os is the coldfusion server on?
 - where is the data coming from?
 - do you have some control over how the data
   gets to the coldfusion server?
 - what kind of volume are we talking about?
 - what database server is being used in
   conjunction with coldfusion?
 - if it's a different machine for the database
   server, what os is that machine?
