I'll second that.  The OpenTopic forums for Ars Technica
(http://www.arstechnica.com/ forums at http://arstechnica.infopop.net) have
been running continuously since 1999 (though I don't think they've run
OpenTopic the whole time, it's been a while since they switched) and they
carry a *lot* of traffic.  Ars also serves as a beta test area for Infopop,
which can be... interesting.  The forums are very customizable and very
fast.
